“I feel in my own heart of hearts that the controls are in place to do the job,” said Commissioner Dick Compton.
He and commissioners Dick Panabaker spent less than two hours Wednesday reviewing records from those earlier meetings - not enough time to determine which agreement was warranted, residents said.
“I’d like to know how they reviewed three and a half years of meetings in an hour and a half,” Gill said.
While the approval was initiated by senior Commissioner Bob Macdonald, who played a minor role in earlier negotiations, residents said he merely followed his new Republican colleagues.
“Macdonald was silent for three and a half years, but he sounded like a parrot tonight,” Gill said.
Company officials will begin buffering the site with trees and will map out plans to remove the gravel.
