Plese Flats Improvement Will Be Topic Of Meeting

A meeting planned for next Thursday will be for persons interested in hearing more about a proposal to improve the Plese Flats recreation area along the Spokane River downstream from the Bowl and Pitcher.

The improvements by the Washington Water Power Co. include a graveled takeout for canoes and kayaks, parking, landscaping, bathroom facilities and a security gate to restrict entry after hours.

The site is a part of Riverside State Park, and rangers there have said there is no control over illegal dumping, and camping, with some users starting campfires.

WWP will also spend $6,000 to stock the river in the area with trout.

The meeting is set for next Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at West Gate Christian Church, 7111 N. Nine Mile Road.
