Policing Group To Hold Parade

Emi Endo Staff writer

A West Valley community policing group is planning a parade on Saturday.

Leaders of the West Valley SCOPE (Sheriff’s Community Oriented Policing Effort) substation invite the public to celebrate the station’s grand opening.

Millwood Mayor Jeanne Batson will be the grand marshall.

Participants should meet at Millwood Park at 10 a.m. The parade begins at 11 a.m. and will circle a fourblock area.

“It’s a small-town, come-as-youare parade,” said SCOPE chairman Bill Langdon.

“Kids are invited to dress up their bicycles and ride them through,” he said.

For more information, call Langdon at 927-2213.

The sheriff’s traffic unit also will hold an open house Saturday. Refreshments and tours will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The office, at 9411 E. Trent, shares space with SCOPE East and West Valley.
