Ruth Bartholomew Spokane

Ruth Lundberg Bartholomew, Spokane, is 100 years old today. Born June 1, 1895, in Pender, Neb., she has lived in Eastern Washington for the past 25 years. She has been a resident of The Academy Retirement Community since 1993.

She has four children: Donald Lundberg, Chiang Mai, Thailand; Allan Lundberg, Jacksonville, Fla.; Rutheen Eldredge, also a resident of The Academy Retirement Community; and the late Leonard Lundberg.

Once her children were grown, she and her husband traveled west, where she sold children’s clothing in Washington, Idaho and Montana. They moved to Spokane in 1970 to be close to family.

She also has five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one greatgreat-grandson.

A luncheon will be held for family members and Academy residents at noon today.

When asked to what she attributes her longevity to, she replied, “keeping busy.”
