Body Washes Up On Bank Of Spokane River

From Staff And Wire Reports

A body was discovered Thursday along the Spokane River near Spokane’s T.J. Meenach Bridge, authorities said.

“Evidently, someone walking along the bank spotted it,” Spokane Fire Lt. Dale Michael said.

The body had washed up on the bank and was hung up in the brush, he said. He did not know whether the deceased person was a man or woman.

The fire department was called about 5:15 p.m. to assist police, but firefighters weren’t needed for long, Michael said.

The case will be assigned to a detective in the Spokane Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit.

No other information was available late Thursday.
