Gonzalez Retains Title Ledyard, Conn.

Alejandro Gonzalez of Mexico, 21, knocked down Tony Green of Philadelphia twice and stopped him 31 seconds into the ninth round in defense of the WBC featherweight title at the Foxwoods Resort Casino.

Another Mexican star, Miguel Angel Gonzalez, knocked down Marty Jakubowski and easily outpointed him to defend the WBC lightweight title.

Also on the five-fight card, Hector Acero-Sanchez of the Dominican Republic retained the WBC super bantamweight title on a roundly booed majority draw. Daniel Zaragoza of Mexico knocked down Acero-Sanchez with a right hook in the fourth round.

In another super bantamweight bout, Marco Antonio Barrera of Mexico retained the WBO title by stopping Frank Toledo in the second round.
