Boating Accidents Up In Washington

Associated Press

The number of boating accidents in Washington last month was dramatically higher than in May 1994, the Coast Guard.

Seven people lost their lives as a result of capsizings or falls overboard last month, bringing the total for 1995 to 12.

None of those who died last month were wearing a life jacket, a Coast Guard news release said.

In 1994, one person died in a boating accident in May and the total number of deaths over the first five months of the year was 10.
