Boise and the surrounding area grew 20 percent in the past five years.
And that is not nearly as much as Ada County’s smaller cities and their planning areas grew. Figures released by the Ada Planning Association show the cities on the county’s west side grew an average of 45 percent.
Boise’s planning area - the city, along with the band around the city where it intends to expand, similar to an area of impact - grew from approximately 164,000 people to 196,000.
In comparison, Meridian skyrocketed 70 percent, from 12,412 to 21,251 people. Eagle jumped about 42 percent, to 8,517 people. Kuna increased one-fourth, to slightly more than 3,000.
