Court Rejects Appeal
Central Michigan did not wrongfully fire its basketball coach, who said he was dismissed for using a racial slur in a locker-room talk with his players, a federal appeals court ruled.
The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Keith Dambrot’s claims that his free-speech rights had been violated. The appeals court upheld a lower court ruling stating the remarks were not a matter of public concern and therefore not protected by the First Amendment.
