Officers Foil Bank Robbery Attempt

Associated Press

An alleged would-be bank robber was foiled by police officers as she was about to enter West One Bank at the Lewiston Center shopping mall.

Denise E. Dixon, 23, of Pullman, Wash., was disguised as a man with a latex mask, mustache, sunglasses and baseball cap when she was arrested without incident in the bank’s parking lot shortly after noon Monday, Lewiston Police Detective Mike Pedersen said.

Dixon had no weapon, but was carrying a note for bank employees and a bag, allegedly to carry money, Pedersen said.

Lt. William Stewart said Dixon would face a felony charge of attempted robbery.

Pullman police were told by a confidential informant last week that a bank robbery was being planned for Monday in Lewiston.

The suspect was placed under surveillance at her home Monday morning, and then followed to Lewiston.
