Charge Dismissed In Cda Stabbing

From Staff Reports

An attempted murder charge was dismissed Wednesday against a man accused of stabbing his friend eight times, according to Kootenai County court officials.

Officials with the Kootenai County Prosecutor’s office say the charge will be refiled today.

Prosecutors charged Frank D. Anderson with second-degree attempted murder late last month.

The 31-year-old Coeur d’Alene man is accused of stabbing his former friend, John S. Gray, 26, during an argument that escalated into a fight, Coeur d’Alene Police say.

Gray was taken to Kootenai Medical Center and treated for knife wounds to his arms, chest and back. He was later released.

But Gray did not appear to testify at Anderson’s preliminary hearing Wednesday, and the charge was dismissed.

Officials with the prosecutor’s office said they were able to contact Gray later in the day and will refile the charge today.

Anderson was not released from jail. Instead, he was rearrested on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
