Nfl Waits For Davis

The National Football League and Hollywood Park reached an agreement in principle on a deal that would keep the Raiders in Los Angeles.

But that doesn’t mean it’s a done deal.

Word has it that Raiders owner Al Davis has yet to make his deal with Hollywood Park.

The Raiders world continued to spin at a zany pace. Early in the morning on his radio show, former coach John Madden, who is close to Davis, reportedly said that the team would return to Oakland.

At about the same time, the NFL’s special negotiating committee verbally closed a deal with the ownership of Hollywood Park.

The deal is only good if Davis works out a long-term lease arrangement with Hollywood Park, a racetrack that would become the site of a 68,000-seat stadium.

Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown came to Baltimore and said he was “very serious” about moving his team here, but local officials came away wary that Brown is more intent on striking a deal at home.

“He clearly wants to remain in Cincinnati,” said Maryland Stadium Authority chairman John Moag.
