He’ll Take One, But Only If They Come In Polter

Compiled By Staff Writer Rick Bo

Sometimes truth really is stranger than fiction - even when the fiction comes from the warped mind of director John Waters.

In his 1994 film “Serial Mom,” Waters staged a ludicrous scene in which sidewalk salespeople hawked T-shirts bearing the portrait of a popular defendant in a multiple murder.

Today, vendors outside the O.J. Simpson trial are doing exactly that.

“It was parody then,” said Waters, a self-described courtroom junkie who attended Charles Manson’s murder trial. “Now it’s a parody come true. It’s not easy being a parody writer in America in the ‘90s.

“We’ve completely lost the distinction between fame and notoriety. If Manson got out, he would get a better table in a restaurant in New York than Madonna.”

Jerry Lee Lewis, on his new album, “Young Blood” (in Entertainment Weekly): “I thought it’d be great to put out one of these little bitty records. CDs they call ‘em. Damn! My last record, there was no such thing.”

Some Simpson shirts even come pre-stuffed

F. Lee Bailey turns 62 today.

You should see what the Lorena look-alike did

A Madonna look-alike is suing Geraldo Rivera for $20 million over an ankle injury she suffered at the hands of a clumsy Joey Buttafuoco lookalike during the taping of a promotional spot for Geraldo’s show. The script had her coming on to the bogus Buttafuoco, who replied that she was too old for him.

Joey has always admired a well-turned ankle

The real Buttafuoco was formerly charged this week with soliciting an undercover police officer last month. If convicted, he could also be ordered to finish his former prison term of up to four years for sleeping with the then-16-year-old “Long Island Lolita,” Amy Fisher.

He’s learned love can be a cutthroat business

O.J. Simpson gal pal Paula Barbieri has taken up with photographer Richard Reinsdoef, a rich boy from Chicago who did the pictures for Simpson’s workout video.

In other words, Joey Buttafuoco need not apply

Kurt Cobain may be gone, but Courtney Love isn’t through having kids, she proclaimed on Modern Rock Live. “I gotta find the breeder, though,” said Love, who has a 3-year-old daughter, Frances Bean, by Cobain. “I am looking for intelligence, electricity, genius, nice teeth, good bone structure and some kind of talent.”

At his age, though, the sentences get shorter

Rod Stewart, a spry 50, still is planning to enlarge his family with 25-year-old model wife Rachel Hunter. “Plenty of lead in the old pencil,” Stewart said on Entertainment Tonight, adding: “And I only write to one person.”
