Man Pulled From Lake After Fight On Boat

Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies and divers scrambled late Friday to rescue a man who jumped off a Lake Coeur d’Alene cruise boat during a fight.

About 9:30 p.m., sheriff’s deputies were told that a fight involving six people had erupted aboard the Mish-A-Nock. A few minutes later, deputies were told that a man involved in the fight had leaped from the boat into the water.

Three county sheriff’s department boats and the Kootenai County Dive Rescue Team searched the waters off Silver Beach, east of town.

Rescuers aboard a Kootenai County Fire District spotted the man’s head bobbing in the water and pulled him to safety. The man was fished out of the lake - shaken and shivering - after being in the water for roughly an hour.

He was taken by boat to the Third Street Dock, where an ambulance awaited. From there, he was taken to Kootenai Medical Center.

About 180 passengers were on the Mish-A-Nock Friday night when the incident occurred.
