Aaa-B Rides Dilger’s Bat To 15-0 Rout

Associated Press

Rob Dilger of Kamiakin High in Kennewick hit two home runs and three pitchers combined on a no-hitter as the Class AAA-B Nationals defeated the Class AAA Nationals 15-0 Saturday in the opening game of the All-State Baseball Series.

Dilger hit a three-run homer in the second inning and a two-run homer in the fifth.

Pitchers John Mattson of South Kitsap, Matt Hampton of Wenatchee and Jason Lakman totaled 11 strikeouts. Mattson pitched the first three innings before arm stiffness forced him out of the game. Hampton pitched the fourth and Lakman threw the final four innings. Justin Fairbanks of Wenatchee also homered for the AAA-B team.

In the second game, Tyler Willis and Adam Huxhold of state champion Lindbergh High in Renton combined to help the Class AA-A Americans to a 12-2 victory over the Class AAA-B Americans.

Huxhold started the game and allowed just two hits in three innings. He added a two-run double in the top of the first as the Class AA-A team took a 5-0 lead.
