Compiled From Wire Services

At least 29 people died of heatstroke in northern and central India on Saturday as temperatures soared above 111 degrees Fahrenheit, a news agency reported.

A 10-day heat wave has claimed nearly 200 lives, Press Trust of India said. Although monsoon rains began in southern India this week, they are not expected to reach the north for three weeks.
