Fall Knocks Guard Unconscious

A security guard at Whitworth College was knocked unconscious for about an hour early Sunday when he fell while climbing a ladder in the basement of a well house on campus.

Doyle Wheeler, 43, was listed in satisfactory condition at Holy Family Hospital Sunday night.

After Wheeler regained consciousness, he called firefighters on his cellular phone at 6:06 a.m., said Skip Wells, deputy chief of Fire District 9. Firefighters pulled Wheeler out at 6:50 a.m.
