Judge Doubles Bail For Ex-Cda Builder

From Staff And Wire Reports

Bail for a former Coeur d’Alene builder has nearly been doubled as five new felony charges were tacked onto 10 charges of grand theft he was already facing.

Ron Stratton, 43, is now being held pending $185,000 bond. That includes a $60,000 fugitive warrant out of Montana and $25,000 bail set for felony check fraud charges.

He appeared in court last Wednesday after being returned to Idaho from Kansas on a $100,000 local warrant. In the theft charges, Stratton is accused of soliciting payments for building projects he did not intend to complete.

If he remains in custody, a preliminary hearing will be scheduled within two weeks. Prosecutors will then have to show whether they have enough evidence to bring Stratton to trial.

Stratton is also the subject of civil litigation for alleged violations of the state’s Consumer Protection Act.

He owned Stratton Construction and also did business as Aul Point Construction.
