Man Arrested After Shooting During Fight

A 44-year-old Pend Oreille man was arrested late Saturday for allegedly shooting another man during an argument, according to the Pend Oreille Sheriff’s Department.

Jose A. Alicea was arrested on first-degree assault charges and two outstanding felony warrants, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

James E. Gray, 40, was listed in serious condition at Deaconess Medical Center after being shot in the mouth.

The shooting happened at a residence along state Highway 211 at 11:55 p.m. Saturday.

Sheriff’s deputies responded two minutes later and arrested Alicea, the sheriff’s spokeswoman said.
