Medical Lake Names Principal

Susan Fahrni, assistant principal at Shaw Middle School in Spokane, has accepted the principal’s position at Medical Lake High School.

Fahrni, 47, succeeds Russell Brown, who is retiring after 33 years in the Medical Lake district, 16 as high school principal.

Fahrni, a Medical Lake resident, was highly recommended by a committee that included parents and staff members, said Superintendent Terry Munther.

The committee interviewed five finalists using questions based on a survey of high school staff. Finalists also completed a writing assignment and critiqued a videotape of a teaching lesson.

Fahrni “agrees with our philosophy that parental involvement is integral to school success,” Munther said.

She has worked for Spokane School District two years.
