Chris Mitchell and Bob Christensen posted matching 33-36-69s, 3-under par, atop Monday’s Washington Trust Bank Pro-Am at The Creek at Qualchan.
Mitchell, the pro at Sun Dance, had six birdies, a bogey and double bogey to lead 56 pros. Christensen, from Painted Hills, led 216 amateurs.
A stroke back were Coeur d’Alene Resort pro Steve Caruso (36-34) and Liberty Lake amateur Kent Brown (35-35). Lewiston pro Paul McCarthy was at 71.
Local knowledge paid dividends in the amateur net divisions. All the leaders are from Qualchan.
Paul Cameron had a 72-6 for a 66 and two-shot lead in the 0-8 handicap division. Jerry Camp Jr. led the 9-13 group with a 76-12 for 64 and Buzz Adams the 14-and-up with an 80-16 for 64. Both scores were adjusted to 65s, five shots under the course rating.
Qualchan went 1-2 in the team competition.
