Manitobans Buy Winnipeg Jets

Associated Press

A group of local businessmen, Spirit of Manitoba Inc., agreed Thursday to pay $32 million to buy out the current majority owners of the Winnipeg Jets in a conditional deal aimed at keeping the NHL club from moving.

The deal, if it goes through, will end the involvement of Jets president Barry Shenkarow and his partners.

As part of the deal, a $10 million deposit must be made by Friday.
