Plummer Man Charged, Held Without Bond In Woman’s Murder

A Plummer, Idaho man accused of shooting a Coeur d’Alene Indian woman to death has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bond in Moscow, Idaho.

Don Houser, 22, was transferred from jail in Boise to a jail in Moscow on Wednesday, according to Federal Bureau of Investigation special agent Mike Dillon in Boise.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for U.S. District Court in Moscow on Tuesday, Dillon said.

Houser is accused of killing 38-year-old Angie LaSarte outside Bobbi’s bar in Plummer about midnight Saturday. The two dated for about 18 months and broke up about two weeks ago.

A funeral for LaSarte, mother of four, is being held this morning at Sacred Heart Mission in DeSmet.

LaSarte was the daughter of former tribal chairman Bernard “Happy” LaSarte. She married Gene James in 1975. They divorced in 1991. The couple owned Angie’s Smoke Shop in St. Maries for 20 years.
