Ailing Brigham Young President Stepping Down

Brigham Young University President Rex E. Lee, in poor health for most of the past decade, announced Friday he is resigning as head of the school.

Lee, 60, said he expects to step down around the end of the year.

A variety of illnesses have plagued Lee. He suffers from permanent nerve damage that affects his equilibrium and ability to walk. He was hospitalized for two weeks in May for a serious infection.
