High School Recalls Yearbook

Associated Press

A high school yearbook is being recalled so the publisher can delete a coded racist message from five graduating seniors, the school superintendent said Friday.

Greenwich High School has asked students to return their yearbooks Monday and Tuesday so the publisher can remove the offensive words and letters that appeared below the photos of the five boys on separate, nonsequential pages.

The five have been suspended. The message was discovered when the yearbooks were handed out Monday, sparking outrage.

The changes, expected to cost between $6,000 and $10,000, will be paid for by private donations, said school Superintendent John Whritner.
