Man Hurt In Wreck After Car Brakes Fail

From Staff And Wire Reports

A two-car accident Saturday in Kootenai County sent a Western Washington man to the hospital after the brakes failed on his car.

Joseph Flury, 55, of Olympia said he was traveling west in the left lane on I-90 over Fourth of July Pass when the brake in his 1987 Oldsmobile went out.

He pulled the car into the right lane, and slammed into the back of a semi-trailer being pulled by Harvey White.

Flury’s car lodged about a foot and a half under Harvey’s flatbed trailer, which was carrying a Howitzer tank. The tank was not damaged.

Flury was taken to Kootenai Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition.

White, 58, of Minden, La., was not injured.
