Postmaster Wants No Part Of Kitty Fund

From Staff And Wire Reports

The postmaster is returning more than $400 that citizens donated to a care fund for four kittens abandoned in a mailbox at the Graham Post Office last week.

Postal worker Micki Palazzo and her co-workers set up the Kitty Fund at the post office to raise money to help care for Abigail, Ziggy, Leo and Cara - the “mailed” family of three-week-old kittens.

“I just have this motherly feeling and that’s what got me going on it,” Palazzo said.

Graham Postmaster Garry Ingalls say he’s as concerned about the kittens as anyone. But he doesn’t want taxpayers - or a postal service auditor, for that matter - to think postal workers are lining their pockets.

“I don’t want any part of that money,” Ingalls said. “This is very positive of the post office, but we don’t want to deal with other people’s money.”

Palazzo urged people who still want to make a contribution to send it to the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County instead.
