Church, State Roles Will Be Forum Topic

The Washington Association of Churches and the Spokane Council of Ecumenical Ministries will conduct the first of a two-part series titled “The Church and the Contract: A Christian Reflection on the Contract with America” tonight at Central United Methodist Church.

The purpose of the public forum is to create awareness and understanding of the Republican Contract with America and the Christian Coalition’s proposed Contract with the American Family.

Local church members and clergy will analyze the two contracts, address various issues and concerns and facilitate discussion.

The main issues that will be tackled tonight are the implications of the two contracts, their impacts on the community and the changing role of the relationship of church and state.

The forum begins at 7 p.m.

The series continues next Thursday, also at 7 p.m.
