Christian Singer Holm To Perform Tonight

Christian recording artist Dallas Holm will perform tonight at Fourth Memorial Church, 2000 N. Standard.

Holm’s style of music is labeled contemporary, but his sound is light and inspirational.

“He’s real traditional. He’s called contemporary, but he doesn’t really play rock music,” said Carol Shearer, who runs the music department at the Evangel Book Centers store on West Boone.

Holm’s folksy, acoustic sound is heavily influenced by the classic 1960s band, The Byrds. Some of his most recent album, 1993’s “Completely Taken In,” also has a rhythm and blues feel.

Holm is scheduled to release another album this summer.

Although he’s been recording since 1969, Holm rose to his current prominence in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. Shearer said part of the reason Holm’s popularity hasn’t ebbed since is that he doesn’t follow trends. Other artists might have a quick rise to popularity only to fall again, but not Holm.

“He’s always been a steady seller,” Shearer said. “He doesn’t peak out.”

Holm’s performance is sponsored by Positive Life Radio 104.7 FM in the Spokane area.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m.

There are no advance ticket sales, but $3 donations will be accepted at the door. Cans and non-perishable food items will also be accepted for donation to the Union Gospel Mission.
