Potato Producer Wins Big Judgment

American Cyanamid Co.’s herbicide Assert damaged the crops of one of Idaho’s biggest potato producers to the tune of $3.4 million, a federal court jury ruled.

The jury issued a verdict Thursday after a five-month trial in a suit brought by Walker Farms of Idaho Falls.

The award is a little more than half of the $6.5 million sought.

“It would have been nice to win it all, but we put in a fair claim,” said owner Roland Walker.
