Write Your Name In The Sky

Associated Press

In one of the more creative ways to get expensive frequent flier awards off its books, United Airlines is offering to paint the names of 10 of its best customers on the side of its jets.

The airline is allowing frequent fliers to use their mileage points to bid for the chance to have their name, or someone’s they choose, in the sky for a year.

Other offerings include a trip to the 1996 Olympics or four days touring vineyards in France.

But the name offer is expected to attract the most attention.

Bids must start at 500,000 miles - enough mileage to take 20 free domestic round-trip flights - and submitted by Aug. 4.

The winners will be determined a week later.
