New faces:

Ken Bare has been hired as American Electronic Sign’s software engineer. Bare, who spent 10 years with Key Tronic Corp. as senior test engineer, was a software and electrical engineering consultant for the past year. He will be responsible for changes in the software of American Electronic’s commercial and traffic products.

Christel Fredericks, a certified financial planner, has joined Seafirst Investment Services as an investment representative in nine branches in the Spokane and Palouse areas. She previously worked with First Interstate Bank in Spokane.

The following physicians have been accepted for membership in the Spokane County Medical Society:

Dr. Merry Alto has joined First Care Medical Center in general practice. She graduated from the University of Washington and completed an internship at Deaconess Hospital and a residency at Mayo Clinic.

Dr. William Faloon has joined Rockwood Clinic in orthopedic surgery. He graduated from the State University of New York, completed an internship there and a residency at Presbyterian University Hospital. He also completed a fellowship at Temple University Hospital.

Dr. Grace Holub has joined WomenHealth as an obstetrician and gynecologist. She graduated from the University of Texas and later completed an internship at Hutzel Hospital and a residency at Providence Hospital.

Dr. William Lockwood has joined Emergency Physician Services PS in the practice of emergency medicine. He graduated from the University of Michigan and completed an internship and residency at Wright State University.

Dr. Nancy C. Starr has set up a solo practice in pediatric urology. She graduated from the University of Utah and completed an internship and residency there.

Brian Sullivan has been appointed local sales manager for KHQ TV. Sullivan, who is a graduate of Glassboro State College in New Jersey, has more than 20 years of experience in the advertising. He most recently was marketing manager at KCNC TV in Denver.

Hospitality Associates Inc. has named Cassi Bates assistant manager of the new Holiday Inn Express in Coeur d’Alene, which is scheduled to open in July. Gates graduated from Brigham Young University and recently was front office manager of the Holiday Inn Express in Portland.

Randy Persinger has joined Hospitality Associates as general manager of the Best Western Heritage Inn in Wenatchee. A graduate of Lewis and Clark State College, he previously managed a hotel in Lewiston.

Pam Baker has been named general manager of the Rodeway Inn City Center. She has been in management for five years and affiliated with Hospitality Associates since 1980.

J.D. Nelson has been named an agent in the Country Companies Insurance Group’s Spokane agency. Nelson, who received an associate’s degree from Spokane Falls Community College, will be based at 9105 N. Division, Suite D.

Ron Fleming has been named regional sales manager in Spokane for First Choice Health Network Inc. Fleming has been a consultant for health maintenance organizations and preferred provider organizations for 10 years and previously served as director of insurance affairs for the Greater San Diego Health Plan.

Windermere Real Estate’s SpokaneMaple office has added five associates to its staff:

Linda Miller, who has six years of real estate experience, is an associate broker. She began her real estate career with Tomlinson North and for the past year has worked as the broker and manager for John L. Scott’s North Spokane office.

Jim Miller has been in real estate for five years, first as a Realtor for Tomlinson North, and then as a residential appraiser with Al Foster & Associates.

Keith Williams has worked as a sales associate since 1993 with ReMax West Plains.

Debbie Monahan has worked since 1994 with ReMax West Plains.

Linda Knaggs has one year of experience with John L. Scott after working as a registered nurse.

Two new sales associates have joined Windermere Real Estate’s Spokane-Manito office:

Susan Wardrop Ells is new to real estate and previously worked for two years with Spokane’s Parks & Recreation Department.

Marvin Hunt, also new to real estate, has worked in restaurant management for 18 years.

Starting up:

Oscar M. Torres has started Design Services Northwest, a residential design and drafting company which offers construction consulting, computer aided drafting technology and complete builder services for new construction and remodeling. He previously was with Somerset Homes, a local home building company.

Dr. James A. Carnell has opened a family dentistry practice at 6821 N. Country Homes Blvd. Carnell is a graduate of Gonzaga University and received his professional training at Creighton University School of Dentistry.

Hospitality Associates Inc. has opened a new motel in Coolin, Idaho. Carol Atkins has been named manager of the Inn at Priest Lake. She has been in the hospitality industry since 1976, most recently as front office manager at Comfort Inn Broadway in Spokane.

Moving up:

Kathy McCandless has been named Kootenai Medical Center’s business services director. McCandless, who first went to work at the hospital in 1973 as a PBX operator and registration and insurance clerk, most recently served as the business services coordinator.

The certified public accounting firm of McDirmid, Mikkelsen & Secrest P.S. has promoted the following people:

Shelley Merrill, Winston Mouser and Marcie Pettis to supervisor; Kari Brotherton, Andrew McDirmid and Lea Rogers to senior; Carrie Hesler and Jennifer Pendell to staff A accountant.

Certifications:

Dr. Ruth E. Langstraat, associate medical director for Group Health Northwest, has been appointed a diplomate of the American Board of Medical Management, the national certifying agency for physician executives.

Jenifer Paciotti, has been awarded the Certified Hospitality Sales Professional (CHSP) designation by the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Motel Association. Paciotti is the director of sales for the Comfort Inn and the Holiday Inn Express in Coeur d’Alene; the Comfort Inn Broadway and the Rodeway Inn located in Spokane; as well as the Best Western Connie’s Motor Inn in Sandpoint, Idaho, and the Inn at Priest Lake located in Coolin, Idaho.

Gary Wickwire, vice president of Admiral Travel & Cruises, has completed the requirements for Cruise Lines International Association’s Cruise Counselor Certification Program. Wickwire is now recognized by the cruise industry as an accredited cruise counselor.

Elected:

William E. Shelby has been elected chairman of the board of Inland Northwest Bank, replacing William A. Griffith. Shelby, who is vice president of URM Stores Inc., is a current bank director. Griffith, former president and CEO of Hecla Mining Co., will continue as a bank director for a year and will remain chairman of the board of directors of Inland Northwest Bancorp., the parent company of the bank.

The Junior League of Spokane has named Candi Morton Gilchrist as its 1995-96 president. A teacher at Mead High School, she has been a Junior League volunteer since 1983.

Kudos:

All Lines Insurance Agency, a Spokane-based independent agency, has been named a Key Producer for The Ohio Casualty Group of Insurance Cos. The Key Producer Program recognizes insurance agents exhibiting exceptional product knowledge, professionalism and service to their customers.

Wednesday - The Small Business Development Center presents a class on the application process and benefits of protecting your invention, products, trade names, designs and publications. A patent attorney from Wells, St. John, Roberts, Gregory and Matkin will teach the class from 6-9 p.m. at Spokane Intercollegiate Research and Technology Institute (SIRTI), 665 N. Thursday - Jennifer Leake of Leake & Associates will speak on “Using Your Strengths to the Fullest” during a meeting of the Inland Northwest Executive Network for Women at Cavanaugh’s Fourth Avenue.
