Top Mafia Leader Captured In Sicily
A reputed top Mafia leader was arrested Saturday night as he drove alone down one of this city’s main roadways, investigators said.
Leoluca Bagarella was arrested down the street from where his brother-in-law, Salvatore “Toto” Riina, the alleged “boss of bosses,” was captured in 1993.
When Bagarella, 53, realized police had spotted him, he hit the gas pedal. But when police cars blocked his getaway, he surrendered without a struggle, the Italian news agency ANSA and RAI state TV reported.
