Young Man Crushed Under Elevator

Compiled From Wire Services

A man was crushed to death in a midtown Manhattan parking garage early Saturday when he became entangled in a conveyor belt, the police said.

The man, Bill Benson, 19, of Bogota, N.J., and several friends were at the Myers Parking Garage at 340 West 31st St., where their car was parked, about 2:30 a.m. when he wandered toward an elevator restricted to employees, police said.

Benson became pinned under the conveyor belt and was crushed when the elevator car came down.
