777 Stretched

Associated Press

The Boeing Co’s board of directors on Monday approved production of a stretched version of the new Boeing 777 jetliner.

The 777-300, which will surpass the 777-200 as the world’s largest twin-engine commercial jet, will carry up to 550 passengers.

Besides expanding the existing 777 line, the plane is being offered as a replacement for early model 747s.
