Jeff Maggert shot a 6-under-par 65 to take a one-stroke lead in the suspended first round of the Family House Invitational.

Thirteen players, including Fred Couples and Ernie Els at 8-under, were still on the Pittsburgh Field Club course when rain forced the suspension of play. Couples completed 15 holes and Els played 13.

D.A. Weibring, Bob Tway and Mike Hulbert opened the 36-hole event with 66s and Jay Haas, David Edwards and Scott Hoch shot 68s. Curtis Strange had a 69.
