Man Shot Fatally In Store Parking Lot

From Staff And Wire Reports

One man was fatally shot and another was wounded in a confrontation in a convenience store parking lot, police said.

Victor Garcia Rojas, 29, of Chelan, died in surgery after suffering a single gunshot wound to the abdomen early Sunday, police said.

Victor Santiago, 30, was in satisfactory condition Monday at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, the hospital said. Police responding to the shooting at Chelan Shell Food Mart found Santiago lying on the ground. He was shot several times.

Food Mart owner Randy Green said Monday that a video camera set up to record parking lot activity showed the men arriving in separate cars and getting out to talk, but did not capture the actual shooting. He said Garcia Rojas was driven away after the shooting.

Police said Garcia Rojas was found about a block away in the parking lot of the Lake Chelan Clinic.
