Soil Erosion Information Offered

From Staff And Wire Reports

The best ways to control soil erosion and stormwater runoff will be explained Thursday during tours of two construction sites near Hayden Lake.

Both home builders and the general public are welcome, said Shireene Hale of the Panhandle Health District.

“We’d like to get builders there to get them familiar with easy things they can do on site,” Hale said. “We’d like to raise people’s awareness so when they see a good site, they’ll recognize it. And when they see a bad site, they’ll recognize that, too, and can report it.”

Builders of the homes received money and planning help for participating in the stormwater demonstration projects. One site is near a wetland, and visitors there will get information about money that’s available to help landowners protect wetlands.

Participants should meet in the lobby of the health district office at either 1:45 or 5:45 p.m. Thursday. For more information, contact Hale at 667-9513. , DataTimes
