Ito Rules Out Carpet Fiber Evidence

Compiled From Wire Services

Stumbling in the final stretch of their murder case against O.J. Simpson, prosecutors on Thursday were punished for failing to disclose evidence to the defense.

Judge Lance Ito barred the prosecution from presenting evidence about carpet fibers from Simpson’s Bronco found at the murder scene.

The information could have been a persuasive element in an FBI agent’s testimony about hair and fiber traces connecting Simpson to the murders.

Before special agent Douglas Deedrick was sworn in as a witness Thursday, Ito ruled that he could not mention anything from his notes on carpet fibers used in Ford Broncos.
