Joan Gagliardi Awarded 1995 Bishop’s Medal

Joan Gagliardi has been presented the 1995 Bishop’s Medal for her outstanding service to Catholic Charities and the Diocese of Spokane.

The annual award recognizes those who have contributed significantly to Catholic Charities and the diocese. Gagliardi has assumed leadership roles in the diocese since 1970 and was co-chair of the 1994 Catholic Charities USA Annual Meeting held in Spokane last September. She has also worked locally and nationally for the Campaign for Human Development.

Donna Hanson, bishop’s secretary for social ministries with the Spokane Catholic Diocese of Spokane, recently received the pope’s highest honor for lay people - the “Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice” medal, the Honor of the Cross.

The award was presented at the Bishop’s Dinner for Catholic Charities.

Marilyn Bowles, a Coeur d’Alene artist, had four paintings accepted into the Lewis-Clark Juried Art Exhibition in Lewiston. The exhibit, which showed her oils, acrylics and a pastel, is part of the Dogwood Festival.

Barton Nelson, Walla Walla, has received Purdue University’s Distinguished Agricultural Alumni Award. He is president of Nelson Irrigation Corp. In 1988, Nelson was awarded the Industry Achievement Award by the Irrigation Association and in 1992 was named to the Leadership Group of the Irrigation Industry.

Greg Siverly, accounts control supervisor for Spokane Railway Credit Union, has been awarded the James “Bud” Crump Service Excellence Award.

Silverly, who has been with the credit union 14 years, was recognized for his outstanding service and commitment to members, community and the credit union movement and for upholding the philosophy of “people helping people.”

Charlie Parrish, owner-broker of Evergreen Realty in Sandpoint, was recently named “Top Producer Dollar Volume” for 1994. This is the second year he has received the award, which is provided annually by the Bonner County Board of Realtors. Parrish has been in real estate for 11 years.

Chuck Adams, has received the Allstate Quality Agent Award presented annually to agents who have made outstanding efforts in certain areas, including customer service and satisfaction.

Bill Graves of D.A. Davidson & Co. Inc. in Coeur d’Alene, is one of several hundred financial representatives across the nation to be named to the Kemper Executive Council for agents who sell Kemper mutual funds and annuity products. Graves has been in the financial services industry four years.

Fred Zirkle received the Chairman’s Award for Excellence in recognition of Zirkle & Co.’s brokering activities with affiliate offices. The presentation was made during the International Business Broker’s Association’s semiannual conference in Chicago.

Zirkle and Dennis Crumb, also of Spokane and Coeur d’Alene’s Zirkle & Co., presented a class, “Brokering in the Information Age” at the conference.

As an award winner, Zirkle will speak at the next IBBA conference in Tucson, Ariz.
