Reading Canceled; Bomber Blamed

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Unabomber may have described his threat to bomb an airliner as a prank, but at least one Northwest author isn’t taking any chances.

Portland writer Marcy Houle, author of “The Prairie Keepers,” has canceled her book reading scheduled for tonight at Auntie’s Bookstore.

“She’s got two young kids and she’s just worried, I guess,” said Kristen Burchett, who coordinates the bookstore’s reading series.

The Unabomber, whose identity remains unknown despite an intense FBI investigation, had vowed to blow up a plane departing from Los Angeles by the July 4th weekend. According to a letter received Wednesday by the New York Times, the threat was merely “one last prank.”
