Surprise Arrest Not Likely To Become Grant’s Tomb

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

Loose talk

Gwyneth Paltrow, 22, on her new squeeze, Brad Pitt (in People magazine): “I am properly in love for the first time in my life, and I do not care if my former boyfriends read this.”

The Hugh Grant scandal grinds on. Here are some late developments:

Los Angeles police report that the prostitute, Divine Brown, arrested with the British movie star is “definitely” a woman. “It nails the rumors Hugh is gay,” said a Grant friend.

Grant’s girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley was reported “devastated” by the news. But a mutual friend said, “I am sure they will cope admirably.”

Grant allegedly picked the prostitute up only 50 yards from the 7-11 where Joey Buttafuoco was arrested in April for soliciting.

In a World Wide Web poll, 41 percent of the respondents said Grant’s arrest makes them “more likely to see” one of his films. Another 47 percent said it “makes no difference.”

And he’s still searching the personals for the ‘right’ girl

Mike Tyson turns 29 today.

He should have smiled and said, ‘Wagner, Bob Wagner’

Supermodel Alexandra Paul told Jay Leno about how she disappointed actor Robert Wagner. “He was introduced to me and so I was talking to him and then people would come up and I would introduce him to them,” she explained. “And I called him Roger Moore. The entire evening. He was looking kind of unhappy and I didn’t understand why.”

He was told, in polite terms, to beat it

The sound you hear is laughter from the palace. Buckingham Palace, to be specific. Seems Michael Jackson’s manager, Sandy Gallin, talked to British ambassador, Sir Robin Renwick, and asked him to see if a knighthood could be arranged for the King of Pop. The request was - big surprise here - turned down.

What, she has delusions of grandeur, too?

Madonna’s hunk of the moment, singer Henry Rollins, attracted the pop diva’s attention by referring to her as a “modern-day Joan of Arc.”

Now he can warble about freedom and really mean it

George Michael is prepping for a comeback. The former pop star, long sidelined because of a contractual conflict with Sony Corp., may soon be free to record a new album. He signed a contract with Dreamworks SKG, which calls for the Steven Spielberg-David Geffen-Jeffrey Katzenberg company to pay $16 million.

Whatever else it is, it should be entertaining

Roger Clinton, brother of the president, wasn’t happy when he learned that Gennifer Flowers was scheduled to teach a seminar at the Washington campus of the Learning Annex, the same location where he was set to lecture on family dysfunction. “I was told this was an adult education organization,” Clinton said. “Perhaps their side thought it was an adult entertainment organization.”
