Wickenhagen’s Wife Seeks Split

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane woman whose husband confessed to killing their niece, 9-year-old Rachel Carver, has filed for divorce.

Rene E. Wickenhagen filed for divorce in Spokane County Superior Court from her husband, Jason Wickenhagen.

He was arrested on a murder charge June 15, the day after Rachel failed to show up for her last day of third grade at Ridgeview Elementary School.

Rachel had lived with the Wickenhagens at their home on North Ash since last October. Rene Wickenhagen is the sister of Rachel’s mother, Lori Beal.

Jason Wickenhagen, 23, confessed to killing Rachel after her body was found by a park ranger at Riverside State Park. He initially told police he walked her halfway to school the day of her disappearance.

Hundreds of volunteers searched for Rachel before her body was found, including Rene and Jason Wickenhagen.

Police believe that Rene Wickenhagen had no part in Rachel’s disappearance or death.
