It’s A Wild Ride At The Bs Girls Session Particularly Strange, With Davenport Needing Comeback
It just didn’t sound right.
How in the world could the Davenport Gorillas find themselves in a fight for their postseason lives against Bridgeport-Mansfield in the opening round of the girls State B high school basketball tournament?
This B stood for bizzare.
The Gorillas trailed by 11 late in the third quarter before putting together a spirited rally to earn a 69-64 win Wednesday at Spokane Falls.
And if you thought Jennifer Stinson was all Davenport had in the clutch, think again. Stinson fouled out with Davenport trailing 54-50.
Davenport’s Joy Emery and Lana Becker stepped up for the Gorillas.
Davenport plays Rainier today at noon. The Mountaineers beat Watson Groen Christian, 46-45.
Also Wednesday, St. John-Endicott beat Wilbur-Creston 57-47, and Wishkah Valley sailed past Clallam Bay 56-38. Those two winners play today at 1:30.
In Wednesday night’s session, defending champion St. George’s used a 27-6 run to beat Seattle Lutheran, 63-31.
Tekoa-Oakesdale withstood a late rally to top Mossyrock, 48-44. The Nighthawks and Dragons meet tonight at 6:30.
Manson topped Darrington 56-40 and Morton beat Klickitat 48-38.
