Japanese Firm Plans Moses Lake Plant

From Staff And Wire Reports

Another Japanese company is putting a manufacturing operation in Moses Lake.

U.S. KDK Corp., a subsidiary of KDK Corp. in Japan, will process electrolytic aluminum foil at Grant County Airport’s industrial park. KDK is a major producer of materials used in capacitors for the electronics industry.

The Moses Lake plant will import specialized aluminum foil from Japan and process the foil to form oxide film to hold electrical charges.

Initial plant employment is projected at 40 to 50 jobs, said officials of the Port of Moses Lake.

The company will be the first to take advantage of the Port of Moses Lake’s new status as a foreign trade zone. The zone allows users to import materials for manufacturing, then export the resulting products duty-free.
