Kinkade’s Double Lifts Cougars In Home Opener

Mike Kinkade knocked in two runs with a seventh-inning double, leading Washington State to a 7-3 men’s baseball win over Lewis-Clark State on Wednesday in the Cougars’ home opener at Bailey Field in Pullman.
Kyle Kawabata threw six no-hit innings, with a walk and two strikeouts, to lead the Cougars (3-8).
Lewis-Clark (6-2) didn’t get its first hit until the eighth inning.
Gonzaga 4, Whitworth 3
Catcher Andy Thornton knocked in the winning run with a single in the seventh inning as the Bulldogs (3-1) beat the Pirates (0-1) at Pecarovich Field.
Whitworth’s Don O’Neil hit a two-run home run.
