Stricken Boxer Stable

Doctors kept boxer Gerald McClellan heavily sedated for the fourth day in a row after a battering in a world title fight left him in critical condition with a serious brain injury.

Because McClellan’s brain remains slightly swollen, the medical staff at the Royal London hospital chose not to bring him out of his sedated condition.

The American fighter, who had a large blood clot removed from his brain after his defeat by WBC super-middleweight champion Nigel Benn, remained on a ventilator.

The hospital continued to list him in stable but critical condition.
