Feds Penalize Twa For Non-Disclosure

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Transportation Department fined Trans World Airlines $350,000 Friday for failing to advise consumers that part of their trip would be on another airline.

TWA spokesman John McDonald said the airline believes its reservations agents perform above industry standards in consumer disclosures, but had agreed to the civil penalty without admitting guilt.

Airlines often book passengers on other carriers with which they have cooperative agreements, called code-sharing.

However, federal rules require that ticket buyers be informed of such arrangements when they buy their tickets.
