Spokane Nets First Win At Portland

Darren Sinclair lifted a shot over fallen Winterhawks goalie Scott Langkow with 4:13 gone in the third period to lift the Spokane Chiefs to a 3-2 victory over Portland in a Western Hockey League game Sunday night.

The win marked the first victory in Portland’s Memorial Coliseum for the Chiefs this season and left Spokane with 57 points, just two away from clinching fifth place in the Western Division.

The Chiefs took only 21 shots but made them count.

Spokane goalie Jarrod Daniel kept the Chiefs in the game, stopping 37 shots, including 15 in the third period.

Jay Bertsch and Greg Leeb also scored for the Chiefs, who led 1-0 at the end of the first period and 2-0 at the end of the second.
