Two Men Get Lost Trying To Find Dog

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two men spent Saturday night lost in the woods northwest of Tum Tum after trying to find a lost dog.

Both were safe Sunday afternoon, said Sgt. Ed Burns of the Stevens County Sheriff’s Department.

Chase Burrows, 24, of San Diego, and Daniel Wooton, 29, of Spokane, were visiting a cabin Saturday night when Wooton’s dog ran off, Burns said.

The two grabbed a flashlight and tried to find the dog. They lost their way, spent the night outside and split up in the morning.

Burrows walked out of the forest and onto a road between 8 and 9 a.m., Burns said. The sheriff’s department, the county fire department and a Northwest MedStar helicopter responded to the call to help find Wooton.

Burns, who flew in the helicopter, said he spotted Wooton outside the cabin about 1:45 p.m.

“Everyone’s fine,” Burns said.

Except for Wooton’s dog, still missing as of Sunday.
